Bodies meet, overlap, support and obstruct one another, gradually losing the clarity of their individual boundaries. Through touch, pressure, movement, light and gravity, the body is treated less as a stable subject than as a material condition: something that can be displaced, concealed, sustained, fragmented or absorbed into other bodies and surfaces.
The Material explores the unstable point at which physical contact begins to alter identity. Hands interrupt vision, limbs become difficult to assign, and bodies shift between figure and form, presence and mass. Rather than describing relationships between individuals, the series considers how the body’s apparent autonomy can dissolve through contact — becoming, momentarily, part of a larger physical structure.
